The Bridge Between Treatment and Independent Living

Realcovery Idaho is a structured sober living residence for men in Twin Falls, Idaho. We are not a rehab facility, and we are not a clinical treatment center. What we are is the critical next step: a stable, substance-free environment where men learn to live sober in the real world, with clear expectations, daily accountability, and comprehensive support surrounding them at every turn.

Many men complete a treatment program and feel ready to take on the world, only to discover that the transition from a controlled therapeutic environment to fully independent living is one of the most dangerous periods in early recovery. The routines that kept them sober in treatment vanish overnight. The triggers of daily life come rushing back. Without structure, even the most motivated individuals can find themselves struggling within weeks of discharge.

That is the gap Realcovery Idaho was built to fill. Since 2020, our program has provided men with the scaffolding they need to build a life that sustains long-term sobriety. Residents live alongside other men who share their commitment to recovery. They wake up each morning with purpose. They go to work. They attend recovery meetings. They develop the life skills, financial habits, and personal accountability that will carry them forward long after they leave our residence.

Our approach is straightforward: we believe in structure without rigidity, accountability without shame, and brotherhood without enabling. Every element of our program, from the daily schedule to the three-phase progression system, has been designed to meet men where they are and help them become who they want to be. We operate three residences across Twin Falls, and each one is maintained as a clean, safe, substance-free home where recovery is the shared priority.

If you are finishing treatment, leaving incarceration, or simply seeking a fresh start in an environment that demands sobriety and rewards growth, Realcovery Idaho may be the right fit. Below, we walk through every detail of what our program looks like from day one through graduation and beyond.

A Typical Day at Realcovery

Structure is the foundation of early recovery. Our daily schedule keeps residents engaged, accountable, and moving forward. While individual routines vary based on work schedules and personal circumstances, the following represents a standard weekday at Realcovery Idaho.

6:30 AM
Wake Up — Personal hygiene, room tidied and inspection-ready. Starting the day with discipline sets the tone for everything that follows.
7:00 AM
Morning Check-In — Brief accountability touch-base with house manager. A chance to set intentions for the day, flag any concerns, and confirm the schedule ahead.
7:30 AM
Breakfast & Chores — Self-prepared breakfast followed by completion of assigned household chores. Shared responsibility keeps the residence clean and teaches habits that carry into independent living.
8:00 AM
Employment / Education / Volunteer Work — Residents are expected to be productively engaged during business hours. Whether it is a full-time job, active job searching, education, or volunteer work, this block is dedicated to building the economic foundation of your new life.
5:30 PM
Return & Free Time — Return to the residence. Time for exercise, personal errands, phone calls with family or sponsors, and decompression before the evening schedule.
6:00 PM
Dinner — Self-prepared meals. Residents have access to a fully equipped kitchen. Cooking for yourself is a core life skill, and many men discover genuine satisfaction in learning to feed themselves well.
7:00 PM
Recovery Meetings / House Meeting — AA, NA, or equivalent recovery meeting attendance. One evening per week is designated for a house meeting where residents and staff discuss community concerns, celebrate milestones, and plan ahead.
9:00 PM
Evening Wind-Down — Free time for journaling, reading, fellowship with housemates, step work, or quiet personal reflection. Many residents find this to be the most valuable part of their day.
10:00 PM
Curfew — All residents must be in the house. Graveyard shift workers who provide documented work schedules have approved exceptions. Consistent sleep is a pillar of physical and mental health in recovery.

This schedule is not designed to feel like an institution. It is designed to replicate the rhythm of a healthy, productive life. The men who succeed at Realcovery are the ones who lean into the structure rather than resist it, and who come to see daily discipline not as a burden but as a gift they give themselves.

Program Phases

Recovery is not a single event but an unfolding process. Our three-phase program recognizes that men need different levels of support at different stages. Each phase builds on the last, gradually increasing personal responsibility while reducing structured oversight, so that by the time you transition to independent living, you are truly ready.

Phase 1

Foundation

Weeks 1 – 4
  • Complete orientation and learn all house rules and expectations
  • Establish your recovery meeting schedule (AA, NA, or equivalent)
  • Undergo baseline drug and alcohol testing
  • Create an employment or education plan with staff support
  • Connect with a sponsor or recovery support network in Twin Falls
  • Focus entirely on stabilizing your routine, sleep, and nutrition
  • Begin building trust with housemates and staff
Phase 2

Building

Months 2 – 3
  • Maintain steady employment or active enrollment in education
  • Demonstrate consistent recovery meeting attendance
  • Develop practical life skills: budgeting, saving, meal planning
  • Take on greater financial responsibility and pay obligations on time
  • Deepen community integration through service, fellowship, and outreach
  • Potential step-down in daily supervision as trust is earned
  • Begin working recovery steps with your sponsor
Phase 3

Independence

Months 4 – 6+
  • Demonstrate sustained sobriety through consistent clean testing
  • Maintain reliable employment and manage finances independently
  • Show financial stability: savings, debt management, budgeting
  • Develop and document your personal aftercare plan
  • Take on leadership roles and peer mentoring for newer residents
  • Plan transition to independent living with staff guidance
  • Build the support network that will sustain your recovery long-term

There is no rigid timeline that applies to every man. Some residents move through phases more quickly; others benefit from spending additional time in Phase 2 to solidify their foundation. Progression is based on demonstrated behavior, not calendar dates. Our staff works with each resident individually to determine when advancing is appropriate, and the decision is always collaborative.

Accountability & Testing

Accountability is not punishment. It is protection. Every measure we implement exists to keep our residents safe, to maintain the integrity of the recovery environment, and to give each man the external structure he needs while he builds the internal discipline that will carry him forward for life. Residents of Realcovery Idaho can expect the following accountability measures as part of daily life in our program.

Drug & Alcohol Testing

Random urinalysis and breath alcohol testing are conducted without prior notice. Testing frequency may increase or decrease based on individual circumstances and program phase. All testing is handled with discretion and respect.

House Manager Check-Ins

Regular one-on-one check-ins with the house manager provide a consistent touchpoint for residents to discuss progress, address challenges, and receive guidance. These conversations build trust and ensure no resident falls through the cracks.

Weekly House Meetings

Every week, all residents and staff gather for a house meeting. This is the forum for community announcements, addressing shared concerns, celebrating sobriety milestones, and reinforcing the culture of mutual accountability and respect that defines Realcovery.

Room & Vehicle Inspections

Rooms are inspected regularly to ensure cleanliness, safety, and the absence of prohibited items. Vehicle inspections may also be conducted. These measures protect every resident and maintain the substance-free integrity of our homes.

We also fully support residents who are on probation or parole. Our staff works with probation and parole officers to ensure compliance with all court-ordered requirements, including reporting, meeting attendance, and testing obligations. Many of our residents arrive with legal obligations, and we view supporting those requirements as an integral part of the recovery process.

Recovery Meeting Support

Attendance at recovery meetings is a cornerstone of the Realcovery program. We require residents to attend Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), or an equivalent recovery meeting on a regular basis. The specific number of meetings per week may vary by program phase and individual recovery plan, but the expectation is consistent: active participation in a recovery community is not optional.

Twin Falls has an active and welcoming recovery community with meetings available throughout the week, including morning, afternoon, and evening options. We coordinate with local meeting schedules to ensure that every resident can find meetings that fit around their work obligations. For residents who are new to Twin Falls or new to recovery meetings, staff will help identify the right groups and, when possible, make personal introductions.

We also help with transportation to meetings when possible. While residents are generally expected to arrange their own transportation, we understand that in early recovery, especially in the first few weeks before employment is established, getting to meetings can be a challenge. Our staff and fellow residents regularly step in to provide rides, and we actively encourage the kind of mutual support that makes recovery communities work.

Beyond formal meetings, Realcovery itself functions as a recovery community. Living alongside other men who are walking the same path creates opportunities for fellowship, sponsorship connections, and the kind of honest conversation that sustains sobriety. Many of our residents form lifelong bonds during their time here, and those relationships become a critical part of their long-term recovery network.

Employment Assistance

Financial independence is one of the most powerful predictors of sustained sobriety. A man who has meaningful work, a steady income, and the dignity that comes from providing for himself is far less likely to return to substance use than one who is idle, broke, and dependent on others. That is why employment assistance is built into the core of our program, not treated as an afterthought.

From the moment a resident enters Phase 1, we begin working on an employment plan. For men who arrive without a job, our staff provides hands-on support with every step of the job search process.

Resume & Interview Prep

We help residents build or update their resumes, practice interview skills, and prepare to present themselves confidently to employers. For men with gaps in their work history, we help craft honest narratives that emphasize growth and commitment.

Employer Partnerships

Realcovery has cultivated relationships with employers across the Magic Valley area who understand recovery and are willing to give our residents an opportunity. These partnerships provide a meaningful head start for men who might otherwise face barriers to employment.

We also coordinate work schedules with house requirements to ensure there is never a conflict between a resident's job and their recovery obligations. If a resident works evenings or has a graveyard shift, we adjust meeting requirements and curfew documentation accordingly. The goal is always to support employment, not hinder it. The Magic Valley area offers diverse employment opportunities across agriculture, manufacturing, food processing, healthcare, construction, retail, and the service industry, and we help residents identify roles that match their skills and interests.

Life Skills Development

Addiction often arrests personal development. Many men arrive at Realcovery having spent years or decades in active use, during which the practical skills of adult life, from managing money to resolving conflict to cooking a meal, were never fully developed or were lost entirely. Our program addresses this directly. Life skills development is not an add-on; it is woven into the daily fabric of living at Realcovery.

Budgeting & Financial Management

  • Creating a realistic monthly budget on your income
  • Opening a bank account and managing it responsibly
  • Understanding debt, credit, and financial obligations
  • Setting savings goals and building an emergency fund
  • Paying rent, bills, and program fees on time every month

Meal Planning & Cooking

  • Planning weekly meals on a realistic budget
  • Grocery shopping and making smart food choices
  • Basic cooking skills and kitchen safety
  • Understanding nutrition and its role in recovery
  • Sharing kitchen space respectfully with housemates

Time Management & Self-Care

  • Maintaining a consistent daily routine independently
  • Balancing work, recovery, personal time, and obligations
  • Prioritizing sleep, exercise, and physical health
  • Managing stress without substances
  • Developing hobbies and healthy outlets for downtime

Conflict Resolution & Relationships

  • Communicating needs and boundaries honestly
  • Resolving disagreements without aggression or avoidance
  • Building healthy, supportive relationships
  • Rebuilding trust with family members when appropriate
  • Learning to ask for help without shame

These are not classroom lessons. They are practiced every single day through the act of living in community. When a resident cooks his own dinner, pays his rent on the first of the month, resolves a disagreement with a housemate respectfully, and shows up to work on time, he is practicing the life skills that will sustain him for decades. That is the Realcovery difference: we do not teach life skills in theory. We require them in practice.

House Rules Summary

Our house rules exist to protect every resident and maintain the safe, substance-free environment that makes recovery possible. The following is a brief summary of the core expectations. Complete house rules are provided during the application and orientation process.

Zero tolerance for drugs, alcohol, and all intoxicating substances on the premises or in your system
No weapons of any kind in the residence or in personal vehicles on the property
No visitors other than law enforcement, case managers, and Realcovery staff
10:00 PM curfew enforced nightly; documented graveyard shift exceptions available
Mandatory recovery meetings (AA, NA, or equivalent) per your program phase requirements
Chore responsibilities including common areas, kitchen, bathrooms, and personal space
Random drug and alcohol testing including urinalysis and breath alcohol at any time
Room and vehicle inspections conducted regularly to ensure safety and compliance

These rules are non-negotiable. They are explained thoroughly during orientation, and every resident acknowledges and agrees to them before moving in. Violations are handled with a combination of compassion and accountability. Repeated or serious violations, particularly substance use, violence, or theft, may result in discharge from the program.
